Looking for your next career move within Public Affairs, look no further GTR has a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Public Affairs Manager based near London Bridge. 

Within the role you will develop, and proactively manage positive relationships with external stakeholders such as members of Parliament and business, to enable the delivery of GTR's Business Plan and National Rail Contract and enhance GTR's brand reputation as a business that cares about the communities it operates within, and listens to and acts on feedback. This will be achieved through developing an annual public affairs plan that identifies opportunities to engage with stakeholders, for example through charitable events, events that highlight community partnerships, supporting employability initiatives and engagement through timetable changes. Stakeholders should feel they are involved and understand GTR's priorities via a structured series of  events, webinars, meetings and email contact. The role complements and will work collaboratively with other members of the PACP team to ensure that there is a consistent and co-ordinated approach to stakeholder engagement whether via the operational, community engagement or parliamentary engagement route.  The role also provides advice, support and guidance to other members of the team, as required.

Some of your day to day duties will include:-

  • Ensuring the delivery of any relevant Public Affairs & Community Partnerships related Annual Business Plan commitments.
  • Producing a Public Affairs engagement plan to manage the relationship between MP's. Councillors, Rail User Groups and other related stakeholders and GTR, ensuring a planned programme of information sharing of the company's plans and aspirations is fed to stakeholders and that we gain their views to help influence and guide GTR's policy decisions. 
  • Secure stakeholder support and advocates for GTR initiatives and developments amongst MP's, Rail User Groups, Local Authority, Businesses, schools and by working with the marketing team, Destination Marketing Organisations.
  • Produce high-quality stakeholder communications for senior/important stakeholders as identified by the team by their reach, relevance and level of influence including regular newsletters. 
  • Translating complex information into easily understandable communications.
  • Input into the delivery of an Annual Stakeholder Survey and ensure that its insights are acted upon and communicated to relevant internal and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee a programme of creative and imaginative stakeholder forums and events to meet GTR's commitments and help to grow the business.
  • Produce concise and useful briefings for senior managers as required for meetings and events.
