Train Driver Psychometric Assessment, Re-assessment policy

Please note the following change has been implemented from the 7th December 2024.

The Rail Industry Standards - 3751 - Trainee Train Driver (TTD) Psychometric Assessment Re-assessment Policy:

  • If you have started any part of the TTD Psychometric Assessment prior to 7.12.2024 a 2nd attempt at assessment is permitted subject to a break of 6 months or more,
  • If you have started any part of the TTD Psychometric Assessment post 7.12.2024, a 2nd attempt at is permitted after a break of 12 months. A 3rd attempt is permitted 5 years (60 months) after your first attempt, and a minimum of 12 months after your 2nd attempt

We will make checks against the National database upon application to clarify your suitability for future TTD assessments.

I haven’t heard back on a role I applied for, what should I do?

We recommend that you log into your account to check the status of your application. Sometimes the emails we send can end up in your junk so it’s worth doubling checking your junk folder too.

If you’ve had no news more than two weeks after the application closed, then please get in touch with our team at hr_resourcing@gtrailway.com. Please include the job title and reference number in the subject line.

For some roles we receive a lot of applications and it may take us longer to review and process so please be patient and we will be in touch as soon as we can. Thank you!

I can’t remember the password for my account. How do I reset it?

No problem, just click here and enter your email address to receive a reset link. If you don’t receive this link, make sure to check your junk folder.

I’m having technical problems with my application or online assessment

If you’ve tried a few times and followed the instructions provided already then please send us an email at: hr_resourcing@gtrailway.com.

Please include as much detail as possible, including times, browser type, what you clicked on, and what the error message was.

If you can include a screenshot, it would really help us to work out what’s wrong and will help ensure this doesn’t happen to anyone else. When emailing us, if you could include the job title and reference number in the subject line.

I unsuccessfully applied for the same type of role in the last six months, when can I apply again?

If you were unsuccessful with any part of an application, you’ll need to wait six months from when you received your ‘unsuccessful notification’ before you can apply again. This is to ensure fairness in the application and assessment process for all candidates.

What steps are involved in your recruitment process?

If successful, will I have to go through a medical assessment?

Every offer of employment is subject to passing a medical assessment, including a drug and alcohol test. The type of medical will depend on the role you’ve applied for.
