Are you motivated by the challenge of managing complex, high-impact engineering environments where attention to detail is paramount? At Govia Thameslink Railway (GTR)we're seeking a highly capable and detail-oriented Planner to take a leading role in the coordination and execution of all Overhaul activities, both short- and long-term, ensuring operational excellence and alignment with business objectives. This is a pivotal role in ensuring our fleet remains reliable, safe, and efficient—today and into the future.

Key Accountabilities 

  • Strategically plan and manage Overhaul operations, ensuring alignment with Service Level Agreements (SLAs) and Annual Business Plans (ABPs).
  • Create and maintain mobilisation plans for Overhaul and project activities.
  • Track and manage short- and long-term Overhaul schedules, adapting to operational demands.
  • Monitor all elements of overhaul activities, including:
    • Mileage- and days-based maintenance
    • Defect repairs
    • Ultrasonic Axle Testing (UAT)
    • Wheelset turning
    • Heavy repairs
  • Collaborate with the Fleet Control team to ensure overhaul activities are effectively coordinated and controlled.
  • Maintain and audit asset databases (Maximo) to ensure data accuracy and compliance.
  • Generate and manage period reports and KPIs to support performance tracking and continuous improvement.
  • Support the Mobilisation Manager as needed, contributing to seamless project execution.
  • Undertake additional tasks as directed by Senior Management to support the delivery of GTR's objectives.

What you'll bring

  • Preferably familiar with GTR's asset control and document management systems, such as Maximo and IQM.
  • Sound understanding of rolling stock maintenance plans and associated engineering processes.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
  • A foundational understanding of Project Management principles is advantageous.
  • Strong awareness of Health, Safety, and Environmental compliance requirements, with a commitment to upholding best practices.
